Hong Kong Dock

April 2011

Sometimes shipping our products around the world is a pretty routine endeavor. This recent project was not the case! We manufactured these 5 foot deep, 60’ long Alaskan Yellow Cedar glulam for a dock project in Hong Kong. At 60 feet, an ocean container was not an option. The beams finished in Eugene, left for Texas where they caught a break-bulk vessel. 65 days later, the beams arrived in HK, safe and sound without a scratch. To get to the final stop, we hired a small derrick and floated the beams the last 1/4 mile across Hong Kong Harbor. The photos below were taken as the beams arrived at HK main port; unloaded and then floated to their final destination. This project was a real challenge but we were quite pleased to hear that things went so smoothly.
