Shanghai Pavillion

Eight massive Douglas Fir glulams, form this pavillion structure near Shanghai. The center steel ring was designed in Japan and fabricated in China. Almost two years ago, we began coordinating the design, manufacturing and steel connections necessary for this structure. The glulams came out of our Eugene plant and were shipped to Japan. There, they were fabricated and precut; ready to assemble. Our partner in China produced the steel plates and giant steel ring assembly. In the end, it was three companies from three countries--working together and driven to deliver excellent results.
